“Remembrance Day Walk” with Leaside Heritage, Nov 11th

Leaside Heritage Preservation Society invites members to participate in a “Remembrance Day Walk” on November 11, 2022. During World War II, 18 young men from Leaside lost their lives in the service of their country. Most were just boys. The Leaside Heritage Preservation Society (LHPS) has identified the homes where each of these individuals once lived.

On Friday, November 11 the LHPS will honour these young Canadians by conducting a neighbourhood walk with brief stops in front of each of their former homes. The tour will be led by an LHPS Board member who will provide at each location a short bio of the fallen hero who once lived there. In recognition of the great sacrifice made by these brave young men, many of the homes on the tour will also have a special Remembrance Day sign placed on their lawns by the LHPS. The tour will start at 12 noon at Trace Manes Park and is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. All LHPS members are welcome to attend free-of-charge and can invite up to three guests. Each participant in the tour will receive a map and itinerary upon arrival. www.leasideheritage.ca/soldier-lives-here
