This charming scene was shot by Darcie Lynn Osborne Card at the edge of the Don. Did you know that ducks (and many other birds) have a special skill called preening? They activate a preen gland which releases an oily substance all over their body for feather cleaning. We all feel better after a good clean.

ATV rider “sent flying” and badly hurt in busy Brampton

Reporter Carl Hantske has posted a tweet of the busy roads where a young man was critically injured when he was struck as he rode an ATV vehicle. Hantske says the ATV collided with a motor vehicle near Airport Rd and Bovaird Dr. in Brampton. The ATV rider was not wearing a helmet and “was sent flying through the air”. All-terrain vehicles are not allowed on city streets. “There are wooded areas/trails nearby”.

Cyclist seriously injured Tuesday on Jarvis near Gerrard

A cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision with a vehicle early Tuesday on Jarvis St. Little is known of the details but it is all too easily imagined. The photo below was taken by @joebyer from a highrise.

“Catastrophic” fatal crane collapse in downtown Kelowna

Officials in BC say that more than one worker has died in a “catastrophic failure” of a construction crane in downtown Kelowna Monday. Construction firm the Mission Group said the collapse happened at the downtown Brooklyn building on Bernard Avenue.

Girl, 11, approached by man in car near Main and Danforth

Police say a girl of 11 was approached by a man in a car near her home in the east end neighbourhood of Barrington Ave and Balfour Ave Friday afternoon. That’s near Main St and Danforth Ave. The child fled home as the man tried to entice her into his car. The man is described as older, with a heavy build. A ticket holder in the Prairies won Saturday’s $18.6 million Lotto 649 jackpot. And the draw’s guaranteed $1 million prize went to a lottery player in British Columbia. The jackpot for the next Lotto 649 draw on July 14 will be an estimated $5 million.

Police seek identity of a woman found in medical distress

Toronto Police are seeking help to identify the woman seen below. She was found in distress Saturday morning near Jane St and Firgrove Crescent in the City’s northwest. She is 70-75 years old, 130-140lbs, 5’4″-5’6″, with shoulder-length black and grey hair, brown eyes, and has a mole on her forehead.
