The City has issued a notice detailing schedules and practices it will observe during the repaving of Mt. Pleasant Rd. north of Eglinton Ave.

Dog dirt pilot at City street litter bins to run three months

The City is launching a pilot to see if it’s possible to collect dog waste in street litter bins. The pilot begins immediately and will run for three months. Ten bins (noted below) have been converted to accept the waste. The dog waste compartments are labelled with stickers and should only be used to dispose of dog waste. The locations are: 1989 Queen St. E., 125 Homewood Ave., 10 Niagara St. (three bins), 45 Dunfield Ave., 55 Rosehill Ave., 88 Broadway Ave., 150 Kilgour Rd and Lakeshore Blvd and Northern Dancer Blvd. Release

Karen Kain, the girl from Hamilton who went on to an illustrious career as Canada’s prima ballerina, has been honoured by Canada Post on her 50th anniversary with the National Ballet. The stamp features a photograph of Kain in Swan Lake. Canada Post also issued a stamp honouring Canadian ballet legend, Fernand Nault, former Co-Artistic Director of Les Grands Ballet Canadiens de Montréal.

Sunnybrook greets army medical staff with MASH signpost

Staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre have welcomed Armed Forces medical officers and staff to the hospital with gratitude and an amusing signpost that recalls Canada’s heroic role in the Korean War. A tall makeshift signpost similar to those seen on the 1970s television program MASH has been set up outside Sunnybrook’s new temporary hospital where the soldiers will work. Canada will begin receiving the Pfizer vaccine from its plant in Michigan. Previously, shipments came from Belgium. And the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is on hold in Canada as the government checks concerns that temporarily closed the Baltimore plant.

City again closes lower Bayview including exit to River St
