A woman detective of the Toronto Police Service is set to dig into the allegations made against former CBC host Jian Ghomeshi.   Detective Lisa Ferris of the Sex Crimes Unit will interview one of two women who have complained to cops tomorrow (Saturday, November 1, 2014). She is unidentified to the world but her name is in the possession of the Toronto Star, which has driven the investigation into Ghomeishi for months. She and actress Lucy De Coutere are said to have made approaches to police in recent hours about bruising acts perpetrated against them by the 47-year-old one-time musician and radio interviewer. Ghomeshi was a founder of the band Moxy Fruvos in 1990. The band, which is still around, has made a statement in which it puts as much distance as possible between itself  and Ghomeshi although there is no evidence that there has been any connection for decades. 

Rob Ford has told reporters that the cancerous tumour in his abdomen has not shrunk after two rounds of chemotherapy and he will need a third treatment. The mayor is also battling pneumonia and is taking what he called a heavy dose of antibiotics.

A parking enforcement officer is in hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was hit by a car driven by a parent at Whitney Public School. The accident happened about 9.30 a.m. Friday morning (October 31, 2014) when the women was apparently trying to move her car to avoid a traffic ticket. Parents outside the school later said the woman had parked in a zone by the steps leading to the school’s front door. There is no parking permitted here although there is a pickup zone along much of Rosedale Heights Drive. Parents of Whitney Public School students are at odds with each other and with the police over a program of “stalking” drivers who leave their cars in illegal places while they pick up their kids. This on-going issue came to light with today’s incident. Parking at schools is an issue across the city. Frequently residents without children resent the deluge  cars each morning and afternoon. They say parents park across driveways and in other illegal places. See post below 

Police say a woman has been arrested after a traffic enforcement officer was struck by a car in Moore Park. According a Tweet sent out by “TPS Operations” an officer was hit by a silver Volkswagen, possibly a Jetta, at the corner of MacLennan and Rosedale Heights drive at 9.35 a.m. Friday. Police are calling it a fail to remain.  As residents will know, the corner of MacLennan and Rosedale Heights is the location of Whitney Public School.. It is typically quite busy there at 9.35 in the morning. 

It is the horror story we can’t seem to get enough of.  At least that’s how the media sees it. Public interest in Jean Ghomeshi is at sky-high levels. We’re reading every word. Say that you are repulsed by the fascination with the shocking allegations against Ghomeshi, the CBC (his employer) the creepy meaning of his pale blue teddy bear and the outrageous cartoon in the Toronto Star. In this acknowledgement of the narcotic effect of the Ghomeshi tale we have children tip-toing past the home of Teddy Big Ears in fear. Will the CBC soon announce a made-for-tv series? Will there be a film? Can you hate it enough while you love knowing the terrible facts so much?  All leads for Friday, October 31, 2014
