Korean franchise phenom Milkcow, founded merely moments ago in 2014, will open this summer at 2651 Yonge St. south of Sporting Life (at Blythwood). Like most Korean popular culture, Milkcow, is exquisitely cute with soft ice cream flavours like Affogato (Espresso) and Snow Drop (Cotton Candy, Sea Salt and Jelly Beans). See them here. If you are a business wonk, it appears that it might require $100,000 Canadian to open a Milkcow franchise. City News has this curious but not uncommon story of dog theft. Bella, a sweet Schnauzer-Poodle mix, disappeared outside the No Frills at Front and Princess Sts. Her owners, Henry and Amy Zhang, are heart-broken but there is video of two suspects, a man and woman who not only had Bella, but stole food from the nearby Pet Valu to feed her. Then, there’s been another bomb go off in Austin Texas, That’s four in about ten days. Below that, startling images of scruntineers and others stuffing ballot boxes during the Russian election that swept Vladimir Putin into a fourth term Sunday. That means he will be head of government for at least 24 years, longer than Stalin. Finally, Facebook is being asked how come it permitted a data firm, Cambridge Analytica, to mine the information of millions of people prior to the US election. Huh, how come Mark?

The Ontario Government will reveal its legislative agenda for the next two months on Monday, prior to the June 7 general election. It may also try to tantalize voters with ideas for another term, if it is elected. Premier Wynne has been accused of trying to hit the re-set button in the wake of Doug Ford’s election as PC leader. Political re-sets are perfectly legal of course. But will it work? “The throne speech is one of the few ways that we actually have to lay out the government priorities and so that’s why we had to do this technical prorogation,” the Premier said at an event at Humber College’s Lakeshore campus in Toronto on Friday.

INFANT BELIEVED VICTIM OF CARBON MONOXIDE

:Authorities suspect an infant has died of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning at a Barrie home Sunday. Two others, an adult and one child are in hospital. Emergency crews responded to a medical call just before 8:30 a.m. in the Yonge and D’Ambrosio neighbourhood of Barrie. “Upon arrival, [firefighters] found high levels of carbon monoxide in the home,” said Samantha Hoffman, a spokesperson with Barrie Fire. Crews found the three occupants, a mother and her two children, a two-year-old and 10-month-old, unresponsive.  Ontario passed in 2014 making it mandatory for all households to have CO alarms near all sleeping areas.

BOY SHOOTS SISTER OVER GAME CONTROLLER

Authorities in Mississippi say a 9-year-old boy has shot his 13-year-old sister in the head in an argument over a video game controller. She is in hospital in uncertain condition. Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell told local news outlets that the girl wouldn’t give up the video game controller when her brother wanted it on Saturday. He says the boy shot the girl in the back of the head and that the bullet entered her brain  .

The final four teams in the Provincial Women’s Hockey League semi-final playoffs will be the Toronto Aeros, Oakville Hornets, Cambridge Rivulettes and Nepean Wildcats. They will meet in three days of play March 23 to 25 at Joshua’s Creek Arenas in Oakville. Leaside, Stoney Creek, Etobicoke and Ottawa were all eliminated in play Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. PWHL

Fall occurred during performance Saturday

Authorities say a Cirque du Soleil performer who fell during a performance in Tampa has died. The horrifying drop happened Saturday night during the company’s production of VOLTA. A spokesman for Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group says Yann Arnaud, a long-time aerialist, was performing the aerial straps number when he fell onto the stage. Arnaud was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he later died. Caution: video shows fall

A $70,000 fine has been levied against a road paving firm for the frightening case of an employee, 37, who was coated with hot asphalt during road maintenance in 2016. The uncovered kettle of molten material was inside a company truck at Danforth and Logan Aves. as road repairs proceeded. When the vehicle made a hard stop, the asphalt splashed onto the man, covering a large part of his body. Firefighters and EMS personnel had to cut away the hardening material both from his clothes and his skin. At the time, fire officials said it took about an hour. Miraculously, he survived. A numbered company operating as R&N Maintenance pleaded guilty to violating the Occupational Health and Safety Act by failing as an employer to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.

The busy Esso station and car wash at Millwood Rd. and Village Station Rd. was offering free washes all day Saturday because the “top brush” in the wash was not working. It’s not known just how long it will take to repair but the breakdown was a holiday for savvy drivers who rushed in with the car, sometimes with two cars. Most takers said the wait was only about 20 minutes. A great break for those who knew. Knowledge is power. Elsewhere on the road, the TTC has dragged yet another car out of the Queen’s Quay underground streetcar stop. The driver was found with his foot still on the gas. Yikes. But look, there have been 25 drivers make this mistake in two years. Heaven knows how many avoided the same disaster at the last second. It’s fine to blame drivers but an honest assessment should also look at a somewhat flawed design of the approach. Anyway, now they’re going to put gates across the tracks. Finally, down at the right, check the number of young people getting G1 licenses in Ontario as soon as they turn 16. The number seems to be sliding a bit. Maybe they’re waiting for self-driving hacks.
