A teen was caught on film by passerby Chris Todd Wagner Friday as she lounged on top of a subway at the Davisville station. This tweeted shot show her scrolling on her phone and taking a nap using a backpack for a pillow on top of a train.  Wagner tweeted the concerning sight to the TTC and soon special constables arrived to end the sojourn before a serious journey into a tunnel began for the girl.  Stuart Green of the TTC called the behaviour “very risky.” He noted the presence of third rails with their lethal voltage.

In PEI, an 18-year-old member of the Sherwood Falcons took two punches at the referee in a playoff game in March. He will now serve 30 days in jail intermittently, the judge has decided. It happened as referee John William MacDougall broke up a melee between the Falcons and the North River Flames in Charlottetown on March 26. The accused player, Cole Trevor Crane, pleaded guilty. Court heard that his father also came close to charges as his son was brought off the ice. Crane’s expulsion started when he grabbed a linesman’s shirt as he tried to stop the fight. As at least two spectators recorded videos, Cole pushed MacDougall and punched him twice before MacDougall gained the upper hand aided by a linesman and Crane’s brother, also a Falcons player. Crane will also serve 18 months of probation after his jail term.

Australian Senator Larissa Watters was conducting business as usual both as a legislator and nursing mother the other day.  As time passed it was clear she would need to feed her daughter more or less at the same time she moved a motion. So she did. Here in Toronto meanwhile, the care and feeding of bar patrons during an LCBO strike was keeping delivery people busy Thursday. A possible strike may occur Monday. These are robberies by three men who hit their targets in numbers of two or three at a time. One of the bandits is armed with a BB gun. This prompted police to  name the felons after a boyhood weapon used by previous generations, the Red Ryder BB gun. The holdups occurred between March 14 and April 11 at ten stores located primarily east of Hwy 27, west of Weston Road and close to Finch Avenue West in the evening. The three men are described as 20-25, 5’8″-6’0″. Their conduct is very menacing as seen in the photo above and the video.

Sears Canada will close 59 stores, about 25 per cent of its 225 locations in Canada. The closures will release as many as 2,900 of its 17,000 workers. Sears has liabilities of $1.1 billion and has admitted it will run out of cash this year unless it manages to put together a survival plan.
