But now here comes someone with a notice that it must all be taken down or her dad, Jonathon, will pay $125 for its removal. Hey, they wouldn’t let Burger King  just throw up a stand in the country. Next thing you know Lily will be taking over Dunlop Street. Rules are rules.

Niagara OPP have sent out a situational video within the hour (above) saying that the hazardous material known as phosphine is contained within the transport truck that tangled with a median fence and rolled on the Queen Elizabeth Way Tuesday afternoon. Hazmat personnel on assessing the removal of the poisonous, flammable material and part of St.Catharines has been evacuated. The crash happened around 3 p.m. along the Fort Erie bound QEW at Martindale Road when a tractor-trailer flipped onto the centre median guard rail. There was a fire at the time of  the rollover but it was quickly extinguished. A fire broke out as a result of the rollover, Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told CP24. It was feared the phosphine had leaked. Phosphine is a flammable fumigant and forms a clear colourless gas in its natural state. It is classified as “very toxic” and when inhaled, causes cell damage in lungs and affects the nervous system.

Sears Canada has raised doubts about its ability to continue as a going concern, saying Tuesday that cash and estimated cash flows from operations were not expected to be enough to meet obligations over the next 12 months. The retailer also reported a 15.2 percent decline in first-quarter sales, continuing a trend of declining sales since it was spun off from parent Sears Holdings Corp in 2012. — Reuters

There was an odd time and weather warp Monday at the East York Civic Centre where the digital sign showed the date as June 6 and the temperature at 17 degrees. It prompted the East York Farmers Market to tweet a complaint to Mary Margaret McMahon (Ward 32) and anyone else who saw it.

Jon Burnside’s safety concerns meeting at the Jenner Jean-Marie Community Centre on Thorncliffe Park Drive Monday was attended by Mayor Tory as well as the Ward 26 Councillor. The meeting was organized as a Community Safety Town Hall to hear from 53 Division officers like Superintendent Reuben Stroble.  The superintendent told the meeting that major crimes in Thorncliffe Park are up by 2 per cent overall from last year. But he said the area’s violent crime statistics are well within the average. Stroble said eight police officers are stationed in the area.

Bassinets made in China and distributed by Cymax Canada of British Columbia have been recalled by Health Canada on the general concern that they “do not meet the Cribs, Cradles and Bassinets Regulations in Canada.” Owners are advised to stop using them immediately. No injuries are reported.

St. Cuthbert’s Summer Day Camp is coming up next month for anyone who has not yet made plans. It runs from July 24 to 28 with the theme “Gadgets and Gizmos — Uniquely Wired, Wonderfully Made.”  The camp is for kids 4 to 12 years with a registration fee of $100 that includes lunch, snacks, Bible stories, skits, songs, crafts, games and a trip. Camp hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended care available from 8:30 am to 5 pm for an additional $50 for the week. Students and teachers from Don Valley Middle School at 3100 Don Mills Rd. survived a rear-end accident between two school buses taking them on an excursion to White Pine Camp in Halliburton County Monday.  Some 21 kids were treated and all were said to be generally okay. One had stitches to the lip and another was kept overnight for testing. A teacher sustained a broken nose. Still, the students were set to stay overnight at the camp. The crash happened near the camp in Haliburton County on Highway 118 just after 11 a.m.
