Bayview Biz: New openings, new menus and new mysteries

Exciting developments are brewing in our favourite business district.

Bad Blowfish Cafe (1595 Bayview Ave) has elevated its culinary game with the addition of an in-house chef. They are introducing a range of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and (new!) dinner. Extended hours means that they are now welcoming patrons till 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. At 1543 Bayview Ave, RIMINI De La Mer Authentic Italian Fish Market is now open! They will bring a taste of Italy to seafood enthusiasts, serving up fresh and authentic catches.

Mysteries add an air of excitement to the street, particularly at 1597-1599 Bayview Ave. Workers have been busy altering the entryway, leaving the neighbourhood curious about whether this pertains to the anticipated Turkish Restaurant or something entirely different. A recent sign (now removed) indicated that Apex Property Management had secured the property on behalf of the mortgagee.

The space at 1609 Bayview Ave has been leased, but details about the new occupants remain a mystery. Residents are eagerly speculating about who might be moving in, do you have a tip? Yerba Buena bid farewell to its location at 1669 Bayview Ave, passing the torch to Hemisphere Cannabis Co, who now occupy the space. We have heard whispers of a golf simulation facility setting up shop on Bayview. We will try to dig up more information about this one soon. 😉

The Bayview culinary scene is thriving, with Jing Chinese Restaurant soon to open its doors at 1634 Bayview Ave. (formerly California Roll). A reminder that the grand opening specials at Jyugoya Japanese Restaurant (1528 Bayview Avenue), a delectable journey into Japanese cuisine, are continuing until August 7th.

And finally we couldn’t help but notice that the flowers on Bayview are in full bloom, and in some cases, reaching new heights! Take a leisurely stroll, savour local delights and enjoy the beautiful patios before the summer is over. Bayview Avenue is the place to be this season!

Uncertainty surrounds future of Turkish resto on Bayview

A highly anticipated Turkish restaurant planned for Bayview Avenue may face an uncertain future. A sign recently appeared in the windows of 1597-1599 Bayview Avenue, leaving doubts about the establishment’s fate. Last year, the windows displayed images of a swanky design, hinting at Rumi Turkish Cuisine. The prospect of an upscale eatery offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, a bar, and live music seemed exciting.

However, a sign now posted in the windows states that the property has been secured by Apex Property Management on behalf of the mortgagee, and entry is prohibited without permission. The exact implications for Rumi Turkish Cuisine remain unclear.

Previously, 1597 and 1599 Bayview Avenue housed Butter Studio and Scholar’s Choice.

South Bayview will soon be home to a swanky Turkish resto

The images posted in the windows of 1597-1599 Bayview Avenue depict a swanky, upscale design that will be home to Rumi Turkish Cuisine. Heravi Development is the firm completing what looks to be an extensive renovation. “Breakfast, lunch, dinner, bar, live music” sounds like a fun, delicious addition to the street.

1597 and 1599 Bayview Avenue were formerly home to Scholar’s Choice and Butter Studio.
