Zero tolerance expels honour roll high school student

We love our zero tolerance. Even when it makes us look like jackasses. Shawn Soucy, an honour roll student at Heritage High School in the Quebec south shore community of St.Hubert near Montreal, has been permanently expelled, not suspended, because a pocket knife was in the bottom of his knapsack. Apparently a classmate reported him. Soucy claims he has never even had a  detention much less been in real trouble. Did he know the rules? The CBC story doesn’t say but Soucy says he needs the knife and uses if frequently for his work on his family’s farm. You be the judge.
