The treatment sometimes known as “lip-fill” is called a common cosmetic procedure by CBC writer Aaron Saltman. The trend is sought by women who want fuller, plumper lips like those of reality TV star Kylie Jenner. But a young woman from Toronto called Jenna is warning others about the dangers of home lip augmentation and lip-filler parties after a complication left her temporarily disfigured and at risk of losing her lip, nose and possibly even her eyesight had she not been professionally treated in time. Apparently the needle punctured a blood vessel. Some might call it a form of self abuse in pursuit of glamour. Sadly, it’s a human inclination that recurs. CBC
