Junior Wildcats defeat Kingston Ice Wolves 3-1 in Leaside

Leaside Junior Wildcats won their home tilt against the Kingston Ice Wolves 3-1 Saturday night at the Millwood Rd. arean. The win takes the Wildcats four games in on the fresh PWHL season with two wins and two ties. Although still unbeaten, the box score of the Kingston game reveals the Cats struggled for two periods before scoring and then needed a power play to get the first marker. Veteran Captain Kristin Della Rovere scored at 1.55 of the third assisted by Katie Wilkinson and Quinn Johnston. Mackenzie MacDonald scored at 13.02 assisted by Quinn Johnston and Sarah Brooks sent a lazy shot down the ice from the Cats zone into an empty Kingston net to register the third goal. Shots on goal are informative. Kingston more than doubled the shots fired at Leaside goalie Alysha Letwin (27) over those faced by Kaitlyn Evelyn (13).

SUNDAY

Sunday at home the Wildcats fought three periods and overtime to finish 1-1 against the Toronto Aeros (York U). Once again the lopsided shots on goal jumped out. Alysha Letwin faced 34 from Toronto while the Aeros Natalie Thompson had to deal with merely 14.
