“Parry Sound 33” still out of control, evacuation being urged

Three communities in northeastern Ontario remain in a state of emergency due to the forest fire known as Parry Sound Fire 33, says the North Bay Nugget.  Killarney, French River and Henvey Inlet First Nation are all on alert. On Saturday, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Parry Sound district recommended that areas impose a mandatory evacuation of their residents with boat access only. They include all areas ranging from the western and northern borders of French River Provincial Park, east to Highway 69, and as far south as the south shore of the Key River; including all residents and members of the public on both the north and south shores of the French River, and the Pickerel River, as well as Hartley Bay. Another concern is heavy smoke which makes highway driving perilous.
