18 Canadians among the dead in crash of Ethiopian 737

An Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed shortly after takeoff from Ethiopia’s capital on Sunday morning, killing all 157 people thought to be on board, the airline and state broadcaster said, as anxious families rushed to airports in Addis Ababa and the destination, Nairobi. Ethiopian Airlines CEO and Kenya’s transport minister say 18 Canadians are among the victims of Sunday morning’s deadly plane crash after takeoff from Addis Ababa.

CAPTAIN “HAVING DIFFICULTIES”

The airline said the captain of the flight had radioed that he was “having difficulties” without indicating what that could mean. He requested permission to return to Addis Ababa and that was given. DW News said the aircraft was delivered new to the airline about four months ago.
