Great day at Mount Pleasant Harvest Fair
by •
The Mount Pleasant Village Harvest Fair went off today with a good crowd and many enterprising merchants. The attractions ranged from Shiatsu Therapy to shish kabob and from dog treats to doughnuts. Above Brook stands with her funny-looking antique Steam Whistle Beer truck. Just to be clear, Brook is not an antique or funny-looking. Right, this lady is in the kids dress-up business. Love the hat. .

There are thousands of public spirited people who help the Daily Bread Food Bank. One local girl is a good example to us all. Sarah Jordan, the 10-year-old Leaside youngster, along with members of her family, has raised thousands of dollars in food for the Daily Bread Food Bank. This is the fifth annual drive bearing Sarah’s name. On her website Sarah summarizes the origins of this excellent. undertaking “One night during dinner, I told my mom that I was full, even though I still had lots of food left on my plate. My mom told me that there were people that lived five minutes away from us that didn’t have food for dinner and that we were so fortunate that we did. Minutes later, we heard a story on the radio talking about the Thanksgiving food drive for the Daily Bread Food Bank. They were in need of a lot more food and were asking people to donate. After hearing that, I told my mom that I wanted to do something to help, so I decided to start my own food drive.” As is often the case around South Bayview, Tremblett’s Valu Mart, 1500 Bayview Ave., is a key player is getting the good work done. You can drop off canned goods there or buy a Thanksgiving hamper for the food bank for $25.

We love our South Bayview, trucks and all

It’s not unknown for big trucks like this Canada Cartage behemoth to take a couple of stabs at getting around the corner of Belsize Drive and Bayview Ave today (Thursday). This fellow actually needed three goes before he was able to clear all traffic. He had some help from fellow drivers but maybe not as much as he felt he needed.

A band of BlackBerry Vice Presidents sing a song praising all their developers for their patience. Report by Sam Datta-Paulin. Meanwhile analysts don’t like the Blackberry maker’s stock as much as those who already own it. The market bid the stock up today on news of better than expected earnings while the know-it-alls on the sidelines said, among other things, that it was a much smaller disaster than expected.
