St. Anselm’s students chacha to top trophy at Palais Royal

Join The Dance Canada’s mad hot ballroom competition ‘Colours of the Rainbow’ Grand Trophy Finals took place at Toronto’s historic Palais Royale Ballroom Tuesday, June 20th. The young dancers from Leaside’s St. Anselm Catholic School captured the stunning gold trophy this year! Congrats! 120 ten-to-twelve year old students representing the 10 Finalist Schools for this year participated in the competition. “Join the Dance (Canada) is a registered Canadian Charity established in February 2006 to deliver Social Development/ Academic Enrichment programs through the medium of dance to children and youth. JTD is the official representative for Pierre Dulaine’s internationally renowned Dancing Classrooms of Mad Hot Ballroom2005) & Take the Lead (2006) fame.”

Davisville is named after John Davis and his family. John came to Canada from England at age 27 in 1840. The J J Davis Store was built in 1894 by the Davis family. A general store and post office was operated by Jack and Charles Davis, grandsons of John Davis. In later decades it became home to other retail stores and is now Starbucks at the corner of Yonge St and Davisville Ave.
