Jennifer Ego of Pawsitively Pets sends along these great pictures of the multi-service pet care and training firm’s party on Laird Drive at Parkhurst Blvd. The little cul-de-sac of Parkhurst which contains Van Ness Flowers and a few other businesses was closed to accommodate the event. Young lady at top left has a Salamander painted on her face. So chic. Next we see a party-goer eyeing an approaching turtle and council candidate Jon Burnside serves cotton candy with a parrot on his shoulder. Aye matie! Below, Polly Wanna Hand Perch? Next, a young kangaroo (don’t get too close to his legs) and the ever-popular pony ride.

by
•The Sleep Country location at 1591 Bayview Ave and the adjoining premises at 1589 Bayview which housed the Flight Centre, are both for lease with large signs in the window. At Sleep Country, the story seems to be that the business might be there for another six months. The large space was once the TD Bank branch before the Canada Trust TD was built at Millwood Rd. and Bayview. Later it housed the Trend Shoppe.

Ford subpoenaed to testify at Alexander Lisi trial
by
•Way back last year when Mayor Ford told police he would not be having a one-on-one with Det Sgt Gary Giroux about the Alexander Lisi case, Detective Giroux said quietly: “I’m going to keep asking.” Now we know it will not be Detective Giroux doing the asking, it will be the Crown Attorney. That’s because the other night (Tuesday, August 26, 2014) Detective Giroux served the mayor with a subpoena to testify at the coming trial of his friend Alexander Lisi, Mr. Ford’s lawyer confirmed that Giroux gave the mayor the subpoena at Ford’s mother’s home about 9 p.m. The mills grind on.
What do you give Bill Murray? A Stay Puft man
by
•You have to wonder if Bill Murray thinks of Ghostbusters (1984) as his own real-life Ground Hog Day (1994). That’s because, even on this TIFF-inspired Bill Murray Day, it is hard to think of Mr. Murray without thinking first of the Columbia Pictures lunacy written by Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis. Even in safe, loving Toronto, Murray was presented (left) on his day with a Stay Puft marshmallow man. Right, Ghostbusters toast (like for real) the malevolent Stay Puft monster

308B Rose Park Drive |
A building project which is well followed in Moore Park is making news. One of two homes built on the 60-foot lot at 308 Rose Park Drive has sold for $2,800,000. That’s $5,000 over list. The 1920s home that had occupied the site sold in October of 2012 for $2,150,000. It had been listed for $2,495,000. The original building was said to be in good condition but largely unimproved. The new home is known, at least for the moment, as 308B Rose Park and sits to the east side of the wide lot. The other new home is designated 308A and its status is not immediately known. These transactions indicate however the undiminished growth of prices in the neighborhood and the kind of margins builders can achieve with a good two-for-one densification project.

The Morning Glory Cycling Club is a community of riders who love to see the sun rise.
