The first of four decorative bridges to connect the new Toronto Port Lands development has left the Cherubini Metal Works in Dartmouth. The bridge is being delivered on a barge that will make its way into the St. Lawrence River. Barge passage is a slow process but the bridge will arrive sometime next month. The first span will cross the mainland jump at what is known as Cherry Street North. Together, the bridges will connect the new, “Villiers Island,” to Toronto, and the revitalized Port Lands. .@smckinley1’s excellent on-the-ground look at the bridge in Dartmouth & it’s future is a great companion piece, ICYMI, to my August look at the lush new river valley and island starting to emerge from bleak industrial land on Toronto’s east waterfront https://t.co/KWxKPK7Nwa

Ontario health officials say that while C-19 cases continue to climb, it still looks as if the province has dodged the worst possible death and mayhem of the pandemic. They sadly concede that there is at least another month of daily cases in the 800 range, but seem convinced that their data shows that cases will then fall. CTV
Canada Dry lawsuit settled for $200,000 in BC
A class-action lawsuit launched by a BC man who said he was misled into believing Canada Dry ginger ale has medicinal properties has been settled for $200,000. Victor Cardoso spent years buying the sweet beverage for his family based on the label’s promise that Canada Dry is “Natural” and “Made from Real Ginger,” according to his BC Supreme Court claim, which followed two similar false-advertising lawsuits filed in the US. The dark and deliciously delightful front-lawn fantasies spun by the folks at 384 Belsize Drive over the years now have a 2020 version related to the real-life peril of C-19. No candy this year. Yikes. We remember all the Belsize Halloween presentations, including the legendary Creepy Peter Pencil Eater. Here is this year’s warning for kids:
Falling leaves have woke the beast
On children she has come to feast
Fairy ghosts from underground
Trapped the ghoul by circling round
This year NO CANDY, just in case
The beast breaks loose to get a taste!
Come back next year when it’s at bay…
But for now, be safe and RUN AWAY!
