Aspiring young talents aged 3 to 22 are being invited to audition at the Crescendo International Competition tryouts at Lawrence Park Community Church on December 6. Crescendo is an international volunteer agency dedicated to finding and helping talented musicians. The forecast for Monday has been revised for the worse with the Weather Network now predicting 10 to 15 cm of snow early Monday with all of what that means for getting around. Time to get some road salt.
Back to 1990s as Iron Horse returns to Kay Gardner Bridge

The fondly-remembered Iron Horse sculpture that graced the Kay Gardner Beltline Park Bridge in the early 1990s will return to that site and be dedicated on Saturday, November 30. It is the work of the Midtown Yonge BIA on a contract with the artist, Robert Sprachman. He has recreated his 1990s work which was sold. Bargain hunters once again crowded St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church at 1399 Bayview Ave. Saturday for the annual Christmas Fair. Organizers Lorna Krawchuk, Muriel Wissell and Heather Conolly along with so many St. Cuthbert’s volunteers had every corner of Lamb Hall packed with desirable items.

He tells phone scammer neighbor is buried under the porch

Many Leslieville residents are giggling Saturday about how they trick the tricksters who phone up claiming to be from Canada Revenue Agency or some other official body. One man says he kept the crook on the line for 45 minutes with stories. The line finally went dead when the resident said he hoped the police wouldn’t catch him for burying his neighbor under the porch. A woman said she uses a special whistle to deafen callers demanding money. By early Saturday there were 35 comments. FB.

Elementary teachers set to strike this month says Hammond

Teachers could walk out November 25 says Sam Hammond, president of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. Talks with the Ontario government have failed says Hammond. The issues are stated not in terms of money but rather “investment in education.” Education Minister Stephen Lecce “isn’t listening,” says Mr. Hammond. The Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation are also poised to strike later this month.
