Injured dog takes refuge under bus, creeps out with coaxing

A dog that was hit by a car near Warden and Eglinton Aves. early Sunday fled in fear under the wheels of a TTC bus and it took a lot of coaxing to get it out. The transit authority is asking anyone who might recognize the Husky-mix canine to call and claim the animal. The midnight-hour drama saw the bus driver, citizens and the driver of the car that hit the dog all trying to entice the creature from its perilous hiding spot. Brad Ross of the TTC said the bus driver called in the situation. “A supervisor showed up and police and animal control and we were all able to coax the dog out from under the bus and get (it) to a vet.”  Ross said that an injury to its rear leg will heal.

There were however 14 Maxmillions prizes of $1 million won across the country.  The jackpot for the Lotto Max draw on Oct. 19 will remain at approximately $60 million, but the number of Maxmillions prizes will increase to 53.

Judge grants Estee Lauder bid to dump erratic Deciem CEO

Ontario Judge Michael Penny has removed Brandon Truaxe as the CEO of Deciem Cosmetics after hearing testimony that the erratic entrepreneur has “essentially lit the company on fire.”   Lawyer Mark Gelowitz, acting for one-third owner Estee Lauder acknowledged that Truaxe might once have been a “diabolical marketing genius building the brand…but he’s gone too far.” Most critically, the Truaxe move to shut down business at the firm’s many stores caused an avalanche of breach of lease complaints and threatened lawsuits from employees. There was also testimony that Truaxe’s Twitter and Instagram rampage was destroying the credibility of the brand. His announcement last week that he was shutting down business made lurid but unexplained allegations of criminality by staff in general. It concluded with a flourish of bitter remarks about his own treatment by others. Cosmetic boss bizarre post blames “criminals” for shutdown

Cynthia Mulligan (the formidable City Cynthia) assays one of the many contests where incumbents collide. She cites some interesting nuances including backyard chickens. Guess who doesn’t care? A useful statistic in races such as St. Paul’s is just how the combined electorate is divided in percentage terms by natural incumbency. It isn’t necessarily 50/50.
