Canadian Press is saying the federal food inspection agency has backed off a decision to deny Israeli wine access to markets here because the grapes were grown in the west bank. The wine, made by the Psagot and Shiloh wineries, is labelled Product of Israel. The agency has now explained that it had not fully considered the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement when dealing with the matter. Under the agreement, Israel refers to any territory where the country’s customs laws are applied. The reversal also comes after vigorous complaints from Jewish groups and the embassy of Israel.

Sixteen-year study reveals that coffee drinkers live longer
by •
New research seems to indicate that coffee is quite good for you. In studies led by the Imperial College of London and the UN International Agency for Research on Cancer, 520,000 people in 10 countries were tracked for 16 years. Some 200,000 of these were in the US. They found that men who drank three cups of coffee per day were 18% less likely to die during the study period than people who drank no coffee. Women had an 8% reduced chance of death. As in all things, the addition of cream and sugar would be cause for concern. Also, in this day of promoted research and fake news, skepticism is present. However there is no evidence that this research is sponsored by Starbucks.
