City Hall show in sewer as rapper unloads profane show
by •
The City of Toronto has issued an apology for what it called “inappropriate content” during a performance at the Canada Day celebrations at Nathan Phillips Square Monday night. CP24 reports that an attendee said spectators were shocked at the repeated use of profanities during the performance of Ottawa rapper Belly, which was attended by children and teenagers. The language might well have offended many but the standard for rap performance is well known. Complaints prompted Special Events Toronto to issue an apology which is quoted by CP24 as follows: “The #CityofTO apologizes for the inappropriate content during tonight’s closing performance at Nathan Phillips Square,” the city’s tweet read. Belly is responding much in keeping with “drop dead” photo below saying he doesn’t think parents should have brought their children to a July 1 fireworks display. Uh-huh. Further, says Belly, his important epithets are not to be censored by anyone.
Fireworks at LHS grounds enjoyed by hundreds Monday

Hundreds of residents enjoyed a Canada Day plus two fireworks display from the hill overlooking Leaside High School playing field Monday night. Families filed down streets leading to the heights from Parkhurst Blvd and all over Leaside for the show, which began about 9.30. It was produced by a local man, David Bryant and friends, as a community service and public-spirited act. A drone was seen above and around Monday’s show clearly operated by the organizers. It should have created a great recording of the pyrotechnics.

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, was charming the public in her grand and royally guaranteed fashion at Wimbledon today. Take a look. Next, engrossing things dredged up out of the Titanic and set to go to auction. Got to love it. Then, three nights of sold out symphony-orchestra renderings of the music of Harry Potter in Toronto at Thomson Hall. Finally, the political fresh air of Ben Sasse, a relatively new US Senator who can use words like catechetical correctly and without blushing. It means teaching by question and answer. We like the fresh air.

Kookoo’s Kitchen, the eclectic-menu restaurant in Woodbridge is walking back its plans to open at 874 Eglinton Ave. E at Laird Drive. In June, the firm draped the location in its signage and proclaimed a new restaurant soon. But principals now tell The South Bayview Bulldog that Kookoo’s has issues with the property and are discussing them with the landlord. It doesn’t sound hopeful. In short, don’t count on seeing a Kookoo’s there any time soon.

A tractor trailer truck carrying wooden skids rolled over on Highway 427 Monday sending the driver to hospital with serious injuries. This occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway near Highway 401. Southbound and northbound off-ramps to Highway 401 westbound were closed by the accident. Truck is shown in photos tweeted by Micheal Donly to have come off a curved ramp. Sometimes such curves cause a load to shift making the truck unstable.

As seen outside McSorley’s before taking even a single beer

The little known T-Rex vehicle made by Campagna Motors of Montreal was parked on Bayview Sunday outside McSorley’s. It made many people look twice. The website says the concept was born in 1988 and production began in the mid 90s. Not sure that they are assembled in Montreal however. They must be registered as a car in six provinces including Ontario and as a bike in Alberta and New Brunswick. Take a look.
