Located at 1568 Bayview Avenue, they are often filled to capacity and borrow patio space from Satay on the Road next door to satiate all of their guests’ cravings. The combined patio space has been a pandemic jewel for both Bayview businesses, offering a heated patio that can be enjoyed long after the conclusion of summer.

Long weekend events and road closures for July 30 to August 1:

North America’s largest Caribbean Carnival is happening this weekend! To accommodate the Toronto Caribbean Carnival, the following roads will be closed to vehicle traffic from 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, until 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 31:

• Lake Shore Boulevard West between Colborne Lodge Drive and Bathurst Street
• Strachan Avenue from Fleet Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West
• Jameson Avenue from Springhurst Avenue to Lake Shore Boulevard West
• Dunn Avenue at Springhurst Avenue
• Dufferin Street at Springhurst Avenue
• Fort York Boulevard between Fleet Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West
• The westbound Gardiner Expressway off-ramp to Dunn and Jameson Avenues (Exit 149)

Market Street continues to be closed from Front Street East to The Esplanade for I Heart Market Street activities.

Investigative drilling work along Overlea Blvd, Thorncliffe Park Drive and Millwood Road will take place, to advance design concepts and other structural plans for the Ontario Line. Metrolinx will be drilling test holes and using a vacuum truck to gather information and evaluate underground conditions. The Community Notice states that the work could be starting as early as July 25, 2022. Intersections impacted: Overlea Blvd & Millwood Rd; and Overlea Blvd & Thorncliffe Park Drive

It’s always interesting to watch the renovation projects in the neighbourhood as they progress. This bungalow is reaching new heights as we watch the 2nd storey start to take shape.

Tuesday morning rush hour traffic was snarled on St. Clair Avenue, west of Yonge Street when a TTC streetcar collided with a garbage truck, knocking the truck onto its side. One would have to assume that the garbage truck was in the dedicated streetcar lane at the time of the collision. Toronto paramedics said three adults were assessed at the scene and two were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Also on Tuesday — commuters on the Bloor subway line were delayed due to an electrical fire at the Yonge/Bloor Station. TTC sent out shuttle buses, as subway service was shut down between St. George and Pape Stations.

Eglinton Crosstown LRT Construction Notice:

As early as Saturday, July 30, 2022, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East. Traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will shift to the north side of the street and construction will move to the south side. The laydown area on Eglinton Avenue East between Taunton Road and Rawlinson Avenue will be removed and the traffic lanes will be reinstated. The crosswalk on the east side of the intersection will remain closed. The sidewalks on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, at the Main and Secondary Entrances, will reopen. Signs posted in the windows of 878 Eglinton Avenue East (north-west corner of Eglinton and Laird Drive) indicate that it will soon be home to a Hakim Optical. A Starbucks operated in the attractive 1940s era building from 2012 until 2020.

• Fun Philippines Toronto Street Festival – Will take place at various venues along a one-kilometre stretch of Bathurst Street between Laurelcrest and Wilson avenues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m until Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Taste of the Middle East Festival – Toronto’s fifth annual Taste of the Middle East Festival is returning to Nathan Phillips Square this weekend.
