A New Year’s Eve wildfire has destroyed hundreds of homes in Colorado’s Boulder County after strong winds fueled the peril with almost no notice.

Durable Betty White, 99, has died in Brentwood California a few weeks away from her 100th birthday on January 17, 2022.

Loaded with gold and silver

A Brinks truck loaded with gold and silver has rolled over at Highway 401 at Renforth Rd. All of the precious metal remained inside the truck. OPP say the armoured vehicle was on a ramp off Highway 427 when the driver swerved to avoid an out-of-control car and the heavily loaded truck tipped. The three guards inside are okay.

Connor Bedard, 16

Canada seems to be good hands hockey-wise as admiring seniors ponder the skill of Connor Bedard, 16. He scored four as Canada tromped Austria 11-2 in the World Junior in Edmonton. Bedard plays for Regina Pats and comes from North Vancouver.

Cash at the curb from man known as Drake/Twitter

Rapper Drake is seen in phone video apparently handing out a large wad of $20 bills to surprised people at an unknown location in the City. It isn’t clear just how many times he did this, or how much money was involved. Does he do this often? Where?

SERRA, the South Eglinton Ratepayers and Residents Association, has issued an appeal to members to make a cash donation to what it says are many “frail seniors with very specific needs, including assistive devices (e.g. walkers, canes, wheelchairs) medication organizers and bathing aids”. The news release says an association member has stepped forward who will match donations to help seniors living at the Roehampton Residence at 808 Mt. Pleasant Road up to a maximum of $2,000.
