Parade Route: The East York Toronto Canada Day Parade begins at 10 am on Cosburn Ave, outside Dieppe Park, and heads east to Coxwell Avenue, turning south at East York Collegiate, passing East York Civic Centre and Michael Garron Hospital. It turns east onto Sammon Avenue to Woodbine, where it heads north through just south of O’Connnor. A block away from the Festival kicking off at Stan Wadlow Park.

Festival: Our festival grounds are at Stan Wadlow Park – 373 Cedarvale Ave. The festival includes music, children’s activities, artisans, merchants and community group market and when the sun goes down, a spectacular firework display at 10pm. By popular demand the midway and the Muddy York Brewing Craft Beer Garden. The Kiwanis Pool will aslo be open so bring your suit.

Sidewalk Labs releases Master Plan for Eastern Waterfront

Scamp the Tramp crowned champ as World’s Ugliest Dog

A pooch named Scamp the Tramp has won this year’s World’s Ugliest Dog contest, held Friday at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, beating out a field of 18 other four-legged contestants.

“He’s Scamp the Champ, no longer Scamp the Tramp,” owner Yvonne Morones of Santa Rosa, California told the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat after the victory. “I think the audience saw his beautiful spirit and everything he’s given back to the community.” Today Show

3-alarm blaze at a seniors’ residence at Kennedy/Ellesmere

Crews were called to Kennedy Lodge, at Kennedy and Ellesmere roads, at around 11:50 a.m. this morning after receiving an alert from an alarm company. TTC buses have been brought in to shelter the displaced residents and paramedics have responded as a precaution as well. Toronto Police Services tweeted that no injuries have been reported. CP24

Canada’s first delivery of airmail was on June 24th, 1918

The Leaside Aerodrome Facebook page has posted an album commemorating a Leaside milestone. On this day in 1918, (June 24) the very first official airmail delivery sent in Canada landed at the Aerodrome at Camp Leaside, a training facility for RAF aviators. Captain Brian Peck was the pilot on Canada’s first official postal flight, which took place between Montreal & Leaside. The flight was planned as part of a publicity event to encourage wartime recruitment. The Leaside Aerodrome Facebook Page was created and is managed by Jeremy Hopkin of Hopkin Design.

Queen, Osgoode and Dundas TTC Stations are closed due to overcrowding at street level.

Screens have been set up at Yonge-Dundas Square to watch the Toronto Raptors victory parade in an effort to ease overcrowding at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto police said.

Toronto Police, Fire and Ambulance have set up a medical post in the intersection on Bay Street, South of Dundas and just East of City Hall. If you or others are feeling unwell, please look for the parked ambulance to get attention.

New Road Closures: Yonge Street is closed from Richmond to just north of Dundas. Also, Dundas is closed between Bay and Church Streets. No vehicles permitted.

Jurassic Park may move indoors to Scotiabank Arena

MLSE says it will make a determination at 5 p.m. this afternoon whether or not to move Jurassic Park indoors to Scotiabank Arena due to weather conditions. 680 News’ Momin Qureshi is on the scene and has tweeted that “The lineup to Jurassic Park is now completely empty!” (4:47pm) CBC tweeted “Raptors fans had waited hours for a spot in Jurassic Park for Game 6. Now the lines have been shut down with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment suggesting the die-hard Raps fans may instead be allowed into Scotiabank Arena.”

UPDATE: MLSE is moving ahead with the Game 6 Raptors Tailgate viewing party at Jurassic Park. Gates open at 7 p.m. Staff will continue to monitor the weather situation and Scotiabank Arena will be used if there’s lightning.

Orca pod makes rare appearance in Vancouver’s False Creek

People were treated to the wonderful sight of orcas on Wednesday afternoon in the city’s most inner waterway. The Vancouver Aquarium said this is the first reported sighting of killer whales in False Creek since it began collecting data in 2000. Urban Toronto shows updated plans for Sunnybrook Plaza

Urban Toronto has published updated information for the redevelopment of the Sunnybrook Plaza at 660 Eglinton Ave East. They note that the project has been redesigned with the OMB-mediated heights of 16 and 11 storeys (55.9 and 44.05 metres high), reduced from the previous 19 and 13-storey heights. More: UrbanToronto
