The strange tale has been told of a lad, Jacob, living in deepest Quebec who is nonethless a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. His family ordered him a cake with the Leaf’s logo on it but in the land of the Habitants, such symbols are hardly common. The cakemaker went on Google and mistakenly copied the trademark of Maple Leaf Foods of Mississauga. It’s a logo best known for baloney and similar products. The boy’s stepmother, Tania Levesque, said her partner ordered the cake from a bakery near the couple’s home in Mascouche, Que., a few days before Jacob’s hockey-themed birthday party. When the bakery said they didn’t have the Leafs’ logo, Levesque suggested the workers search for it on Google, setting off the hilarious miscue.

The much-awaited opening of the second Piano Piano location at Mt. Pleasant and Manor Rd. has seen revelers from Davisville Eye Care post this photo (upper left) of their crowd. Best wishes to this enterprising restaurant. Upper right, the plaintive plea posted on Roxborough St. West (and elsewhere in Summerhill) from the owner of a lost earring. An elegant bauble for sure. Below that, the Bulldog catches up with a joyous event marking Hanukkah. This Menorah Lighting took place on December 23. There are more pictures tweeted by Josh Matlow (Ward 12). Lower left and still in Midtown-Yonge BIA territory, a night shot of the recently dedicated Iron Horse sculpture on the Kay Gardner Bridge. At lower right is the Mt. Pleasant Rd. location where a mural will be painted. Entries closed September 15 so it seems the City and BIA folks are in a huddle making a final decision. The devil is often in the detail.
