The Ministry of Health reports 181 new cases of COVID-19 verified during the preceding 24 hours across the province. It is the lowest number of daily cases seen since March 28. Once again, massive testing is in place with 21,751 tests performed for the comparable period

Higher reward in playground shooting of two girls in 2018

Police, Crime Stoppers and the BOLO (be on the lookout) group have announced an increased reward Monday for the apprehension T’Quan Robertson. He’s wanted for his part in the indiscriminate shooting at the Alton Towers Circle Parkette playground in Scarborough in 2018. The reward goes from $50,000 to $75,000 for information leading to T’Quan’s arrest. There were eleven children in the playground when three men opened fire. Two girls were struck. Cops rescue child as disturbed man leaps into ready TFS net

Police engaged in a high-risk intervention and rescue at a home near Albion Rd. and Arcot Blvd. early Sunday when a mentally disturbed man was holding a child out a third-floor window. The incident is sparsely described so far. But officers were able to pull the child away from the man before he leaped to the ground. Remarkably, Toronto Fire was there with a net and the man was safely taken into custody. All of this about 1 a.m. not far from the pleasant corner shown above in a file photo.

New virus cases still below 200 a day as mass testing kicks in

The Ministry of Health reports that new COVID-19 cases in Ontario fell to 197 in the overnight period ending Saturday. Some 23,278 tests were processed during this period and another 25,000 are said to be underway. All daily summaries.

A temporary COVID-19 centre has opened in the TNO Youth Centre behind the East York Town Centre. It is a collaboration between The Neighbourhood Organization and Michael Garron Hospital.
