CGS: Celebrating moms and families a little extra these days

A spring update from Children’s Garden School

Earlier this month, Mother’s Day and International Day of Families marked a celebratory week for the CGS parents. All of their students spent time crafting and enjoyed expressing their love and gratitude through fun homemade gifts like potted plants, personally designed tote bags, origami bouquets, rainbow painted hearts, and mom letter glazed photos perfect for the mantle. The Early Starts hosted a party for their moms with some songs, gift giving and treats, while other classes presented their special gifts at drop off and pick up.

CaféTO curb lane café installations underway across TO

CaféTO curb lane café installations are underway throughout the City. This year marks the first summer of CaféTO as a permanent City of Toronto program with new requirements. This week City crews began installing traffic safety equipment to safely close curb lanes and allow restaurant and bar owners and operators to open their permitted curb lane cafés. As per City Council direction, curb lanes closed beginning Monday, May 15, to provide adequate time to complete spring road maintenance and cleaning activities. Installation of traffic safety equipment will continue through June for all remaining approved CaféTO curb lane locations.

It appears as though Mirage Mediterranean Restaurant (1620 Bayview), Darna Middle Eastern Kitchen (1613 Bayview) and Buono Ristorante (1566 Bayview) are setting up CaféTO curb lane installations on Bayview this year.

Falling for Autumn…planting with an extended season in mind. Autumn is the time of year when every leaf becomes a flower. When many gardeners are hanging up their shovels and secateurs for the season reflecting on the season’s past and dreaming about the garden to come, there are still weeks, and in some cases months, of incredibly beautiful gardening to experience. Put on your sweater and fall in love with plants, foliage, and even some flowers, before the snow flies.
