Susan Gray writes to the Leaside Community Facebook Group warning fellow residents that “A very verbally aggressive man followed my neighbour during her run this morning in North Leaside. He stopped and yelled at her when she confronted him. This man appeared very angry – he was yelling about back-stabbing women and getting his posse. He is driving a small white pick-up truck with a small flag and blond plastic doll attached to the outside top of the cab. He is white, brown hair, big build and maybe in his early 40’s. The police were called around 8:30 am.” Another resident responded with a reminder to people that your cell phone can assist police if you manage to capture a photo of anyone harassing you on the streets. Stay alert and safe everyone.
We will have to wait another day in suspense.

Members of the Beach Village BIA and the Danforth East Community Association organized this event to honour our Olympians, no doubt inspired by the neighbourhood’s very own Penny Oleksiak. It will start at 11 a.m. in East Lynn Park. The parade will then make its way onto Queen Street East and head east until Kew Gardens Park. Oleksiak, won four medals at the games and carried Canada’s flag into the closing ceremonies, will be there along with fellow 16-year-old medalist Michelle Williams, who won a bronze with Oleksiak in the 4X100 metre freestyle rally. A 3-year-old boy and his father were taken to hospital after a car driven by a third man slammed into a utility pole at Avenue Road and Roselawn Ave. Saturday morning about 8.30. The boy is said to have life-threatening injuries. He is at the Hospital for Sick Children. The third man, who was also the driver, is said to be uninjured. It appears the toddler was wearing a seat belt but was not in a car seat at the time of the collision.
