A tweet from Madrid airport Monday evening reveals the damage done to a tire on one of the two wheels of the main carriage. It also shows one tire apparently intact on the left side. Earlier reports said the plane had lost a wheel. The tire is said to have blown on takeoff sending debris into the engine. But the other wheel and landing gear on the left side remained firm for a safe touchdown Monday afternoon.

An Air Canada Boeing 767 aircraft has landed safely at Madrid airport Monday after reportedly losing a wheel on takeoff. Twitter video captured the joy on landing. The Toronto-bound flight AC837 departed from the Adolfo Suarez-Barajas international airport earlier in the day. It circled Spain to burn off fuel and landed about 1.10 p.m. Touchdown was seen live around the world and seemed to go without incident. Rocked the Leaside Pub

Leaside Ladies Night Out has filled the Leaside Pub for the second annual event held Thursday. Principals Ann Brown and Becky White sold 175 tickets to rock the old pub to the rafters. This weekend Ann and Becky are saying how proud they are of the many women who joined them. Proceeds are helping to plant yet more goodwill with friends in Thorncliffe Park. Funds have purchased seeds and tools for the TP Urban Farmers at 71 Thorncliffe Park Dr. Funds will also help facilitate the building of raised beds which permit better drainage and lush growth. Thousands of kids hit the ice at the Leaside Hockey Association Select Tournament this weekend. The Leaside Arena is a focus for family fun with players, moms, dads and relatives thronging the concessions, silent auction offerings as well as Andy Elder’s newly-located food stand. He’s now at the west end of the main concourse. Games and activity continue into Sunday.

An indignant post at BlogTO has retold with its own special spin how a TTC operator used the public address system to explain that there was very little he could do to remove a passenger who “smelled bad.” His comments were translated by one passenger and the blog as “shaming.” Maybe. But comments on the post reveal overwhelming support for the operator. There’s no way of knowing just how filthy this passenger really was. All sorts of images can be conjured. But the operator’s broadcast appears to have been in response to complaints from other passengers. Will he now fall victim to cancel-culture vengeance? Among comments vindicating the operator are:

“If you smell bad, do something about it”
“Good for the driver”
“A big no to bad smells on the subway”

Oh, unfeeling Toronto. Why can’t you just cuddle up to filthy people next to you on the subway?
