Shooter’s Bar in Calabogie

The criminal negligence trial of a former bartender in the Eastern Ontario village of Calabogie continued in Pembroke Friday. Court heard from Enrico DeFrancesco, an Algonquin College professor, former bartender, nightclub manager and instructor in the responsible serving of alcohol. He testified about a serving protocol as taught in a course known as Smart Serve. The charge of criminal negligence against a server is so rare that the case may be a precedent. The accused is Ann Senack, a well-known local resident who has had much support in the community.  Renfrew Today

William Amos, the Liberal MP for the Quebec riding of Pontiac, has issued an apology for accidentally appearing naked during a Zoom meeting of the House of Commons. The camera in his home was turned the wrong way, he explained.

City officials are saying it’s a so far unexplained slowdown in the delivery of the Moderna vaccine that has caused some vaccination clinics to grind to a halt. Apparently, deliveries of the Pfizer vaccine continues fairly reliably. CTV

Ominous orange smoke rises from plant near Sheppard and Highway 400

A still unexplained chemical caused an ominous toxic cloud at an aluminum plant on Alloy Ct. near Sheppard Ave and Highway 400 at mid-morning Wednesday. Listen to Jennifer Di Francesco and a young friend (below) react to the sight of this nasty business. “Whatever it is, it can’t be good.” Fortunately, there are no casualties reported. The incident occurred at a subsidiary plant of the Norwegian-owned firm, Norsk Hydro, an aluminum extrusion operation located at 7 Alloy Court, North York.
