Metrolinx has announced it will build a large maintenance and service facility (MSF) for the Ontario Line trains on Overlea Blvd near the Thorncliffe Park Costco store and across the road from the East York Town Centre.

Metrolinx calls the new MSF “a critical component of the Ontario Line.” The chosen site is a 175,000-square metre tract. Once completed, it will become the central location for the upkeep, repair and resting place for the subway trains. Release
A pop-up vaccination clinic at a Thorncliffe Drive mosque Friday ran out of vaccine before closing time at 5 p.m. The clinic had what appears to be a very long lineup and one tweet said people were waiting five hours before the noon start. Saturday, another clinic will take place around the corner outside Iqbal Food Market starting at 9.30.

Two pop-up vaccination clinics are set for Friday (today) and Saturday in Thorncliffe Park. Friday’s site is the Masjid Darusallam Mosque at 4 Thorncliffe Park Drive. Saturday’s is outside Iqbal Halal Foods. Get over there.

Chevrolet to build electric Silverado
General Motors has announced that it will build an all-electric Silverado pickup truck. It will come from the same EV assembly line in Michigan that will produce the recently-announced GMC Hummer EV sport utility. No on-sale date has been announced for either one, but the Hummer SUV has been tagged with a 2024 model-year and suggestions it could launch early 2023. Olde Yorke closes takeout too
Olde Yorke Fish and Chips has decided to close even its takeout service immediately because of the C-19 surge. In a message Tuesday, the owner Olivia Feather, spoke about the personal concern she and others felt for people “in our age group.” She said: “We want to be pro-active to protect all our staff, and our family, who are in the age group that is now more at risk. We hope that the vaccines will be given to them shortly, as they have been on the front lines of exposure all this time. We will open once again when we feel comfortable with the situation ”
