The case of explosives and a detonating device found in a Richmond Hill home seems increasingly curious as reported by Pam Seatle. But a day in court was put over three days Wednesday at the request of the Crown.
Rexall, Cody Fair and Tutto Pronto is ready when you are
by •
The future of the big Rexall Drugstore in the Sunnybrook Plaza has long posed a question for residents. Where will it go when the plaza is knocked down for redevelopment? The answer (upper left) from City documents seems to be around the corner to 1820 Bayview Ave. beside the CIBC. At right is Jack, a pupil at Maurice Cody School, seen in 2013 at the annual Spring Fair. Jack may have outgrown face paint but the fair is back Saturday, May 22. Take a look at all the stuff they’re doing. Down the left side is the imminent arrival of a pleasant restaurant called Tutto Pronto (ready when you are) at 1751 Bayview. They have a place on Avenue Rd. Below that, the sad news that 2 Bros.Cuisine has closed. We’re not sure what’s happening there. Lower left, some tulips for you from Longo’s and at right a reminder of Lianne Fisher’s address and discussion next Wednesday at Leaside United Church.

by •
A Facebook discussion is underway as the City prepares to once again spray the Mud Creek Ravine (Moore Park and Bennington Heights) and Vale of Avoca west of Mt. Pleasant Rd to control the European Gypsy Moth. It is the first time since 2013 that such spraying has occurred. Apparently, Gypsy Moth activity is sufficiently aggressive that the spraying was deemed necessary

Petulant “brake-check” driver causes accident on Hwy. 410
by •
Who would do this? Help us identify the driver of the car that failed to remain on #Hwy410 – May 3, 2019.
Call Port Credit OPP with any information 905-278-6131 pic.twitter.com/D2Kt5hSc0S— OPP Highway Safety Division (@OPP_HSD) May 15, 2019
Here we see a dirty road tactic called the brake-check. It’s a temper tantrum at high speed. The self-absorbed, petulant driver is tailgating a car that he thinks isn’t going fast enough. So he pulls in front of it and slams on the brakes causing an accident. This was seen May 3 and the OPP would like to catch him. His car appears to be a Ford Focus.

Explosives and detonating equipment have been seized from a Richmond Hill home. A man and his son are charged. In Ottawa, they’re saying there is no known national security issue but what does that mean? It appears the tip about this matter may have come from the Americans.
Town hall meeting Thursday to fight “Return of the OMB”
by •
A town hall meeting has been called for Thursday night to protest the Ford government’s proposed legislation (Bill 108) to return OMB-like qualities to the approval process for development in Toronto. The legislation would reverse new power recently achieved by City Council to control growth and building height by permitting so-called “de novo” hearings. The meeting is scheduled for May 16 at 7 p.m. at the North Toronto Memorial Community Centre at 200 Eglinton West. Ford plans to restore developer “de novo” power over City
