Car smashes into utility pole at Richmond, Parliament

A man was injured in a single car accident at Richmond St. near Parliament St Sunday morning when his car hit a utility pole. Police say he is recovering in hospital. A woman walking nearby was treated for minor injuries caused by broken glass which hit her as the crash occurred.

3-alarm fire destroys home near Bayview and Hwy 401

The dramatic videos below were shot by Jeremy Cohn and Andrew Collins at 86 Forest Heights Blvd. early Sunday where a large home under construction was destroyed by fire. The palatial structure was gutted and fire officials estimate damage to be in the range of $8 to $10 million.

Word has come that Le Petit Gourmet restaurant at 1064 Yonge Street in Summerhill will close. The news was conveyed in tweets from neighbor Paul Hahn Piano (below) and from sister blog Yonge and Roxborough News. Le Petit Gourmet has been in business at this location since the 70s

Mike Tufts is now the franchisee at the Valumart at 1500 Bayview Ave. The sign was changed a couple of days ago and the affable Mr. Tufts is waiting to say hello. Funny how the government keeps winning. Well, never mind, maybe it isn’t a lot of money depending how you play. But there were no Lotto Max jackpot tickets sold for Friday night’s $60 million prize. The jackpot for the next Lotto Max draw on Jan. 6 will remain at approximately $60 million but the number of Maxmillions prizes offered will increase to 40.
